Accomplished real estate investment professional Eugene Gorab serves as the President and CEO of Greenfield Partners, LLC, a premier private equity real estate company he founded in 1997. Eugene Gorab belongs to the Real Estate Roundtable (RER).
In a statement, RER chairman Debra Cafaro applauded the US Congress’s quick passage of the re-authorization of the TRIA in time before the previous extension expires on December 20. In late November, the US Congress re-authorized the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA). This move will extend the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program (TRIP) for another seven years until December 31, 2027. Cafaro further stated that RER strongly supports the re-authorization, which ensures that terrorism insurance coverage will remain affordable and available. RER will continue to collaborate with the members of the US Congress and the Coalition to Insure Against Terrorism to reassure all real estate stakeholders that terrorism insurance coverage will be available for their investments. TRIA was first enacted in 2002 to counter the inability of the insurance market to offer commercial policyholders with terrorism risk coverage. TRIA is critical to commercial real estate markets since lenders require comprehensive insurance coverage that covers all risks to collateral, including terrorism. With TRIA, the commercial real estate market has moved forward despite many terror threats.
