The first round of grants amounting to $400,000 has been awarded to eight local nonprofits. Two of the grant recipients are local community-based nonprofits from Seattle, Washington. Global to Local and Latino Community Fund Washington received $40,000 and $62,500, respectively. Meanwhile, Bicycle Colorado and Trails & Open Space Coalition, both from Colorado, received $60,000 and $30,000 each. In Atlanta, Georgia, Park Pride will use a $40,000 grant to assist in drafting conceptual plans for the use of schoolyards as community green spaces. Also from Atlanta, Georgia, the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance will use its $10,000 grant to increase awareness and engagement among community members in advocating for parks. Lastly, the ELLA Library and Net Resource Foundation from Chattanooga, Tennessee, received $35,000 and $62,500, respectively.
