An accomplished real estate investment professional based in Connecticut, Eugene Gorab serves as the President and CEO of Greenfield Partners, LLC. In addition to managing a successful private equity real estate firm, Eugene Gorab maintains active membership with the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA).
A non-profit trade association representing the institutional real estate investment industry, PREA recently released data from the 2019 Investor Intentions Survey it compiled along with two international industry associations. The survey revealed that institutional investors are returning to core strategies, including real estate investment. Reflecting a slight uptick over 2018, institutional investors reported raising their target real estate allocations to 10.4 percent. While value-added investments are expected to remain the most popular investment strategy this year, investors also are beginning to favor investment in core properties again. Just over 40 percent of survey respondents said core properties are an attractive investment, representing a 12-point increase over 2018. As for the commercial property sector, survey respondents ranked office, multifamily, and industrial space highest among investment preferences in 2019. The survey included 154 institutional investors and fund managers throughout Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.
