Serving as the President of Greenfield Partners, LLC, in Westport, Connecticut, Eugene Gorab manages billions in assets across his real estate and operating companies. Committed to staying on the leading edge of real estate industry developments, Eugene Gorab maintains membership in several professional associations, including the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
A multidisciplinary real estate organization with members and events throughout the globe, the ULI conducts research and holds educational conferences to support sustainable advancement of the global real estate industry. One of the areas the ULI focuses on is promoting the importance of setting goals to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate impacts of the real estate sector on the escalating climate emergency. Given that buildings account for about 40 percent of the world’s carbon emissions, the ULI takes the position that real estate companies are responsible for reducing emissions to address global risks, while simultaneously striving to increase the value of real estate assets. To work toward this goal, the ULI recommends following the science-based targets approach, which provides a structure to reduce emissions with a strategic, data-driven approach.
